For Fire Victims: Extinguish the Need

Extinguish the Need (ETN) was developed in conjunction with the Broad Ripple High School Key Club following the devastating death of a classmate's sister who was unable to escape a residential fire.

Any family or individual that loses a home and/or possessions to fire, is referred to PBF by the American Red Cross or a local fire department as well as the PBF's Division of Family Services.  The program is free of charge with an objective to literally replace all necessary household items and furnishings to help the family move past the tragedy and move forward in life.

Since opening the facility in 2004, more than 900 individuals have received assistance following total fire loss.  From clothing to furniture, PBF coordinators work with the family to ensure their needs are fulfilled so their lives can move forward in a productive fashion. Families receive assistance until they no longer require support.

The facility is stocked with merchandise donated by the community.  Because of limited space, specific types of donations are requested each month.

Please review the following list to determine items currently in need.

  • Pots and pans
  • Cooking utensils
  • Bath towels
  • Wash cloths
  • Bedding
  • Blankets
  • Sheets
  • Shower curtain liners

If you have furniture to donate, please call the Extinguish the Need Facility: (317) 217-1747
